BoxPlus Shines at Intermodal Europe 2025, Empowering High-Quality Development of Multimodal Transport
Recently, Intermodal Europe 2025—the world’s premier event in multimodal transport—successfully concluded in beautiful Barcelona after three action-packed days (October 21–23). BoxPlus had a strong presence, hosted a 50-minute keynote forum by special invitation, and joined multiple activities including a roundtable session.
On the afternoon of October 21 (local time in Spain), BoxPlus, together with COSCO SHIPPING (Europe) GmbH and Piraeus Europe Asia Rail Logistics S.M.S.A. (PEARL), took the stage for a themed forum. Centered on “Smart-Linked Full Chain,” the forum explored upgrades in multimodal transport, showcased the technological strength of Chinese enterprises, and engaged global partners in discussing new pathways for intelligent transformation of the supply chain.
We were honored to invite Mr. Wang Mingfeng, President of COSCO SHIPPING (Europe) GmbH, to open the forum. Mr. Wang elaborated on COSCO SHIPPING’s core vision of “building a world-class, customer-centric digital container supply-chain ecosystem,” underscoring the Group’s determination to accelerate the deployment of a digital supply-chain network.
Notably, Mr. Wang highlighted key messages from Chairman Wan Min’s important speech at the North Bund International Shipping Forum in Shanghai (2025). Under the theme “Developing New-Quality Productive Forces in Shipping Amid Global Transformations,” Chairman Wan proposed six development pathways:
1. continuously strengthening industry-chain and supply-chain collaboration to build a global resilient service;
2. promoting data interconnection to co-create a digital shipping ecosystem;
3. deepening the integration of AI and shipping to pioneer an intelligent shipping model;
4. driving the deep integration of green energy and shipping to build a green system;
5. cultivating high-end talent in line with new-quality productive forces;
6. jointly advancing global rules to promote an inclusive governance framework for world shipping.
These six pathways offer strategic guidance for the high-quality development of the global shipping industry and emerged as a key consensus during exchanges at this year’s exhibition.
Following this strategic framing, Ms. Afra Guo — Deputy General Manager, Business Process & System Division, COSCO SHIPPING Lines, and Managing Director, BoxPlus Information Technology Company — shifted the focus to digital execution. She shared benchmark cases of smart-container applications across COSCO SHIPPING Holdings’ dual brands, translating an ambitious strategic blueprint into tangible, operational best practices and vividly demonstrating how smart containers deeply empower transport efficiency and decision accuracy.
Mr. Kagioulis, General Manager of Piraeus Europe Asia Rail Logistics S.M.S.A., then combined regional business practices with digital-intelligence tools to detail a “hub + corridor + network” sea-rail intermodal model centered on the Port of Piraeus in Greece, highlighting COSCO SHIPPING’s profound capabilities in global logistics network layout and coordinated operations.
In the final segment, Mr. Zhang Feng, R&D Manager at BoxPlus, presented BoxPlus’s IoT smart solutions from the IBOX family in a systematic way. He explained how products such as IBOX-BPD, IBOX-BPR, and IBOX-BPV empower end-to-end multimodal scenarios, distilling the forum’s exchange of ideas into practical, valuable technical solutions—an emphatic and fitting conclusion to the session.
Through the technical strength and proven practice of the IBOX product family, BoxPlus not only reinforced its influence in the container IoT field, but—leveraging the Group’s collaborative advantages—also conveyed to the world the firm commitment of Chinese shipping companies to advancing the industry’s intelligent, green, and resilient development.
Looking ahead, BoxPlus will continue to deepen its R&D in core IoT technologies, iterating and upgrading full-scenario solutions. We will harness technology to drive strategic upgrades in multimodal transport, help the Group cultivate new-quality productive forces in shipping, and contribute technological strength to safeguarding the security and smooth operation of global supply chains.
