The platform enables real-time visual tracking of dry containers, with sensitive monitoring of temperature, humidity, and impact anomalies to ensure timely protection of cargo quality and safety.

In early June, 50 COSCO Shipping containers filled with polyester chips were loaded at Yangpu International Container Terminal and shipped to Wuhan. On June 24, the containers were transferred to the Central Asia Sea-Rail Intermodal Train and continued their journey inland. Upon reaching Urumqi in Xinjiang, the cargo was then transferred to the Central Asia train for export to Almaty, Kazakhstan.

All 50 dry containers on this journey were equipped with the BoxPlus IBOX DRY container management solution (referred to as "IBOX DRY"), which enabled real-time shipment tracking and ensured the safe transport of polyester chips along the Silk Road using smart technology.

 

As of now, the 50 dry containers have successfully arrived in Kazakhstan, as monitored via the IBOX DRY application platform.

With IBOX DRY, these dry containers are fully monitored, offering real-time visibility of the cargo's location and condition throughout the entire journey. Temperature, humidity, and impact abnormalities can be easily detected and managed via email notifications, ensuring the safety and quality of the goods. The IBOX DRY platform also supports geofencing, enabling the digitalization of resources such as terminals, depots, and customer sites, facilitating asset management and logistics optimization.

The intelligentization of dry containers is becoming essential for sea and multimodal transport. According to Drewry, by 2025, 20% of global dry containers will be equipped with smart technology, totaling over 4 million units.

This successful journey of the COSCO Shipping Central Asia Sea-Rail Intermodal Train, supported by IBOX DRY, marks a key milestone in the digitalization of sea-rail intermodal transport and exemplifies the practical application of the Belt and Road Initiative in Central Asia.
